《三味书屋》是《百草园》的姊妹篇。鲁迅曾经在三味书屋生活了7年，在文中详细记录了这个求学阶段的几个生活片段，从文字中不难体会到他对这段生活的深情。但现如今的孩子对于"私塾"的概念感知几乎为"零"，对于文中内容的理解、部分较为生僻的词语的理解都会很困难。如果仅从文字部分来学习，需要孩子们联系时代背景和作者的思想才能较为准确地理解。而有了与文字相辅相成的画面，会大大降低理解的难度，让孩子们更容易明白作者想要表达的意思。
