One part adventure story, one part archaeological detective work, one part spiritual exploration, Walking the Bible is a fascinating, unprecedented journey — by foot, jeep, rowboat, and camel — through the most famous stories ever told.

In his New York Times bestseller, Bruce Feiler tells the story of a personal quest. Feeling disconnected from the religious community he had known as a child, Feiler sets out on a perilous, 10,000-mile journey across the Middle East to discover the roots of the Bible. Traveling through three continents, five countries, and four war zones, Feiler attempts to answer the question: is the Bible just an abstraction, or is it a living, breathing entity with relevance to contemporary life?

Along with prominent Israeli archaeologist Avner Goren, Feiler explores the geography of the Bible, reading each story in its natural surroundings. Using the latest archeological research, he explores how physical location affects the larger narrative of the Bible and ultimately realizes how much these places, as well as his experience, have affected his faith.

Bruce Feiler is an award-winning author, journalist, and speaker. Feiler is a graduate of Yale and Cambridge Universities. He is a frequent contributor to NPR's "All Things Considered," a contributing editor for Gourmet, and has written for The New Yorker, the New York Times Magazine, the Washington Post, USA Today, Esquire, and Conde Nast Traveler. He lives in New York City.
